History
The history of Casa D'Almear can be told from the childhood of Antonio Castilho and the memory of hot summers that marked the joy of the grape harvest.
The Joaquim Graça's eldest grandson, the little Antonio, was the only child in a family of Barrô farmers and winemakers who participated in the production of wine.
During the late 1950s and early 1960s, much of the family production was sold to the National Wine Board of Águeda.
António Castilho still remembers today the image of the ox carts and their dornas, where the baskets of grapes harvested were deposited, and that they followed slowly to the cellar at the same time that he stepped them with his own little feet.
In the wine cellar, the work of the press began early to tread all the grapes. In the evening, to celebrate the generous harvest, an 'improved' supper was served to all.
Years later, António da Graça Castilho and Alda Tavares Castilho, inspired by the childhood memories and the dream of producing distinct wines, unites the family in love with wine production, giving birth to Casa D'Almear - Classic Vineyards.
Officially founded in 2007, Casa D'Almear has been defined as its own style of wine production, with respect for traditional savoir-faire, with moderate intervention of the contemporary innovation component, compatible with the sustainability model.
The Casa D’Almear Wines are distinguished by their elegant character and deeply festive attitude, involving every moment in an atmosphere of pure Celebration and Success.
